10. Budapest, Hungary
In winter the historic Vörösmarty Square attracts guests and locals to its market. The Christmassy scents of mulled wine, honey cookies, fir and cinnamon fill the air and can be smelled from afar. The visitors are entertained with various music and dance performances. The skating rink provides a wonderful opportunity to experience winter fun. Meanwhile only high-quality products are traded on 122 stalls!
When to go there?
The market opens on 28 November and works until 1 January.

9. Belfast, Northern Ireland
The fair features a magic post box, where kids’ letters to Santa Claus reach the North Pole. Found in front of the City Hall the market offers international delicacies: Italian nougat, Belgian chocolates, French tarts, Bratwurst, Spanish Paella and even exotic meats like Alligator, Impala, Kangaroo and Wild Boar!
When to go there?

8. Birmingham, UK
The market has over 180 stalls and is said to be the biggest in the country. The fair in one of the most British cities incidentally is called Frankfurt Christmas Market! Thus you can find pretzels, schnitzels, bratwursts, knoblauchbrot and hot Glühwein here. Also look for the great Christmas gifts – handicrafts, leatherwork, rugs, crystal lamps and more. After all – Birmingham is industrial city, so the local traders are the best.
When to go there?
The market works from 13 November to 22 December this year and is located in Victoria Square.

7. Madrid, Spain
Situated in the largest square of Plaza Mayor, Spanish Christmas market has a signature about it – the marvelous and original decorations. Each year different lights, shapes and figures are hung above the square – no one will argue that Spanish know how to celebrate! Various gifts can be found on over 100 stalls.
When to go there?
Visit the market in Madrid from 28 November to 31 December.

6. Trento, Italy
The traders inundate wooden huts situated in the beautiful Fiera Square. They offer Christmas decorations, nativity scenes, cakes, cheese, traditional Tyrol and Trento dishes. Besides mulled wine, Italian Parampampoli is served – an exclusive flaming drink. The Renaissance architecture also creates a certain elevated atmosphere.

5. Frankfurt, Germany
The classic example of the German tradition – it is the oldest market in the country, which has set a certain standard. While visitors explore the stalls, buy German delicacies and get warm with Glühwein, chiming church bells create the atmosphere. You can also admire the view of the market from above – just go to the Nicolai church tower.

4. Glasgow, Scotland
The market takes over Argyle Street in the city center, where traders from all around the world gather. You can find products from Lapland and even Ecuador! Various international specialties, including Continental beer and wine, supplement the local goods. Meanwhile hot Glühwein comes straight from Germany, Mosel valley.

3. Hamburg, Germany
The iconic city turns into a Winter Wonderland at this time! Shimmering lights make the city so inviting and cozy. The biggest and most popular Christmas market is found in the Town Hall. It is hosted by Roncalli’s Circus – clowns and artists even serve the punch!
When to go there?
The market in the Town Hall will be open from 24 November to 23 December. Other markets will be open until 6 January.

2. Gothenburg, Sweden
The biggest Christmas market in Sweden is found here, settled in Liseberg Amusement Park. Smaller fairs are also scattered around the beautiful city. Traders sell traditional costumes, handmade candles, pottery, leatherwork, knitwear, jewelry, Swedish sweets, dishes and other goods. Themed decorations, ice show and carousels make it an unforgettable winter experience.
When to go there?
Most of the fairs will be open throughout December.

1. Innsbruck, Austria
This is one of the most beautiful locations for a Christmas market. The Alpine city has the beautiful Old Town, overlooking the mountains – that’s where a few themed fairs take place. Over 70 stalls, scattered among the dazzling tree decorations, offer traditional as well as international Christmas products. The tower trumpeters fill the air with sounds, while puppet show, storytelling and animals entertain the kids.
